National Police Experience
Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001- Chiefked at Ground Zero in New York City as part of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office security assistance to the county S.H.I.P. food bank program.
In September 2003- I had the honor of being invited out to spend a day with the Denver Police Department and learned a lot about the K9/Tactical Command Operations & Decisions that took place during the Columbine High School Active Shooter Incident.
In August 2001- I did a Saturday night midnight shift with the Phoenix Police Department and learned a lot about the serious domestic violence and gang problems that city is dealing with on a daily basis.
In September 2005- As part of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) I spent two weeks patrolling in and around New Orleans, LA following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. I took part in numerous search and rescue operations, as well as dealing with looters, animal control and responding to emergency 9-1-1 calls.
In September 2006 - I spent a day with the Seattle Police Department and learned a lot about Emergency Management and Domestic Preparedness issues a major city like Seattle faces on a daily basis.
In July 2009 - I spent a day with the Hampton Police Department in Virginia. I learned about their role in the Michael Vick dog fighting case as well as the role all Virginia
Police Agencies had during the Virginia Tech Active Shooter Incident.
